Report: Samsung is increasing the Galaxy Z Fold8 production target for this year by 1 million units – GSMArena.com news

Samsung is ramping up its manufacturing efforts after the Galaxy Z Fold8 exceeded the company’s most optimistic expectations. According to reports from ETNews, the tech giant is increasing its production target for the device by an additional one million units, bringing the total projected output for 2026 to nearly four million. This sudden surge comes as component suppliers receive updated orders to keep pace with a level of consumer interest that has caught many industry analysts by surprise.

The momentum behind the latest foldable is evident in recent sales data, where the Z8 series managed to shatter long standing pre-order records previously held by the Galaxy Note10 and Note10+ back in 2019. In South Korea alone, about seventy percent of the 1.44 million pre-orders were for the Z Fold8 specifically, while European markets also showed strong preference for the wider form factor, which accounted for forty percent of early bookings there.

Industry insiders suggest that while the hardware itself is a draw, strategic pricing played a significant role in these numbers. With memory semiconductor prices rising throughout the year, many customers rushed to take advantage of double storage promotions that offered 512GB models at 256GB prices. This combination of product appeal and financial incentive has created a perfect storm of demand that suggests foldables are moving further into the mainstream market than ever before.

This success puts Samsung in a commanding position just as competitors attempt to carve out their own space in the folding phone arena. While Huawei pioneered similar wide designs with its Pura X line, Samsung currently holds the upper hand in global availability and scale. Meanwhile, rumors persist that Apple is developing its own high end entry known as the iPhone Ultra, though it remains unclear when such a device would actually hit store shelves to challenge Samsung’s current winning streak.
